Because I'm addicted to www.plurk.com. I think my Taiwan travelmates (who are using Plurk - thanks to me) know more about what's happening to me than my mummy.

<![CDATA[Hello! Taipei! (again)]]>Sat, 25 Jul 2009 02:31:06 +0700http://go-away.weebly.com/1/post/2009/07/hello-taipei-again.htmlWow~ I think Weebly's interface is much faster recently. ♥

An update: I am going to Taipei this September again! Not for Jay Chou, unfortunately. But for Sodagreen!

Tentatively, I will be flying on 16 Sep & returning on 21 Sep. 3 days leave only because 21 Sep is off in lieu for Hari Raya Puasa! Yay!

For the 19 Sep concert I will be sitting here:

Taipei Arena
Not really the BEST seat, but the system left many fans hanging for 2 hours during the ticket sale made me feel damn lucky. :D

Waiting for the ticket sale of the second show to start!

<![CDATA[Ling Fong visits Taipei: Taipei 101]]>Thu, 16 Apr 2009 00:00:00 +0700http://go-away.weebly.com/1/post/2009/04/ling-fong-visits-taipei-taipei-101.htmlPicture
For that whole afternoon when I was in Taipei 101, I was wondering why I have no common sense for so many years, believing that the Taiwanese drama were deliberately filmed near the skyscraper in order to show it in their background. After I went one round on the 89th storey then it came to me that, if I can see almost the entire Taipei City from Taipei 101, doesn't it implies that everywhere in Taipei City can see Taipei 101 too?

The weather was not favorable for a Taipei 101 visit that morning. Unfortunately I have packed the schedule too tight that we have to go up no matter what. So, we missed the chance to go to the outdoor 91st storey. And even on the 89th floor, we could not see a lot too. But it was fine since the scenery was not the main point.

Taipei 101
I like the way the tower stands sticking out from the entire city. And it will definitely stay this way for many years to come, for I don't think there will be another architect as crazy as this one to conceptualize another sky-touching tower that will be on par with Taipei 101 in the same city.
pagoda
I like how the concept was 'smoked'. Now I know 'smoking' is actually possible in the real world, I was standing in the product when I learnt it. I like especially the adaptation of the Chinese pagoda and bamboo into the structure that represent flexibility and strength. And yet deep inside the heart of this living envelop, is an advance damping technology that works in a way no one else can imagine.

Decorative motifs, ruyi and the emblem coins are surprisingly very consistent in the entire tower, art pieces and even the mascots. It takes a lot of patience and thoughts to tie the entire big concept into these little things. There are so many details that users usually take for granted. Does anybody recall that there used to be birds and lizards and fishes on the columns of the original Jurong Point? Does anybody remember the stream of water in Marina Square that flowed from end to end?

Convincing oriental concept, locality and site responsive technology constitute what we see in the heart of Taipei - usually with fireworks - Taipei 101. It deserves the place on the record books.

LF is impressed. (Will visit again!)

<![CDATA[I will miss you]]>Sun, 02 Mar 2008 00:00:00 +0700http://go-away.weebly.com/1/post/2008/03/i-will-miss-you.htmlIt is not possible to find awful food in Hong Kong. Food is only classified into cheap-expensive and local–imported.
Day 1
(Airport)
Welcome gift from Chuyuet. Crispy!
• Pork chop noodles (Tsing Yi Maritime Square)
Large portions and the soup tasted like wanton.
• Fruits (Central Graham Street)
We need to keep our mouths busy while walking down the steep road.
• Claypot rice x3 (Causeway Bay Tung Long 新翠华)
‘x3’ as in 7 persons shared 3 pots of rice – spicy seafood, yam & chicken. Anyway, the best part was the rice, brown and fragrant but not charred.
• Dessert (Causeway Bay Moon House)
This place seems to be one notch above 许留山, better ambience and service and of course, higher price. But the mango pancake and durian pancake are… ahhrrrr… I don’t know how to describe! The fruit, the cream and the thin soft skin melt in the mouth like foam!!!
Day 2
• Yoshinoya (Kowloon Tong Festival Walk)
Eating on the steps while watching people ice-skate in the mall.
• Junk (Mongkok roadside)
Curry fishball, wafer bites...
• Pasta & Pizza (Mongkok Langham Place Suzuki Café)
Didn’t intended to dine high-class, but we never seem to be able to exit the legendary Langham Place.
• Dessert (Mongkok
The tables have drawers that hold rows of spoons and forks. So convenient!
Day 3
• Dim-sum (Kwai Fong Metroplaza Maxim)
• Krispy Kreme (Mongkok)
Original glazed and Cappucino. Fabulicious!
• Katsu (Tsim Sha Tsui Star House)
It was cheap, that all.
Day 4
• 菠萝包 (on the coach)
Courtesy of Chuyuet again.
(Yuen Long)
Damn full from this 11-course meal! And 寿包 for Dr. Nirmal.
• Apples (Tai Kok Tsui)
China Fuji apples!
• Lamb and mint (Central SoHo)
Perfect in the absurd weather!
Day 5
• Dim-sum (Kwai Fong Metroplaza Maxim)
Refer to Day 3. Plus 猪肠粉,虾饺,蛋塔,custard (without the crust)… Kok Ming got to stop us from ordering more food when he realized that our table was never empty.
• Curry rice with beef & 奶茶(Causeway Bay roadside)
Tender beef but only passable curry.
(Causeway Bay roadside)
OMG! This is even BETTER than the Rochor tau hway! Literally DISSOLVED to nothing in the mouth! Then the peanut taste remains...
(Mongkok roadside)
Not pungent enough. I think it’s the weather; our noses are less sensitive at low temperatures.
Day 6
• Wanton Noodle (Central Wellington Mak's Noodle
Cosy HK café, that served small portions. But the soup is super super addictive!
• Hot Chocolate (Peak McDonalds)
Errr... I can’t resist getting that hot drink although it’s the golden arch.
• Char Siew Rice (Airport Café de Coral
Just to satisfy my craving for the authentic char siew.
From LF & her food memories :)
